Head coach John Tortorella scratches his star defenseman
The asset management of Rasmus Ristolainen is laughable. After giving up a big package for him, the Flyers saw him put up brutal numbers with barely any bright spots. Instead of cutting their losses, they signed Ristolainen to a five-year, $25.5-million dollar deal.
Now, newly-minted head coach John Tortorella has scratched Ristolainen. Tortorella wouldn't be one to care about his annual salary, so he made the decision he thought was necessary.
Both analytics and eye-testing show how ineffective Ristolainen is, and hopefully this healthy scratch will be a wake up call for him.
