This week's events were out of the ordinary, but not in the National Hockey League. Brandon McNally of the Cardiff Devils has been suspended and fined for two games in the Elite Ice Hockey League, but that's not the most interesting part of the game.
McNally went berserk during the second period of a game between the Devils and the Dundee Stars, causing audience members to get involved. McNally was first given a minor penalty, but when told to go to the penalty box, he began hitting other Stars players, with the referees on the ice losing control.
McNally took one player's helmet off and started punching him. Even after three officials tried to stop him, McNally kept hitting his helpless opponent, who had fallen to the ice and was in a vulnerable position. After the officials eventually got him off, he went on a frenzy, striking Stars captain Drydn Dow with both fists.
At this time, an enraged supporter tossed what seemed to be a beer bottle onto the ice. The bottle hit the ice but didn't break, maybe due to plastic, and sprayed McNally and the official accompanying him with beer.
