Jack was drafted 11th overall in 2010 by the Dallas Stars. He was picked to be the franchise goaltender. However Jack wasn't developing into the goalie the Stars were hoping for when they drafted him.
Jack pretty much stayed down with the Stars AHL affiliate the Texas Stars, so on June 25th 2016 Jack Campbell was traded to the Los Angeles kings for 22 year old defenseman prospect Nick Edbert.
Jack Campbell, didn't have much playing time in Los Angeles, especially that Johnathan Quick was on top of his game and one of the best in the league. Jack was then traded to the Leafs on February 5th, 2020 with Kyle Clifford, for Trevor Moore and 2 conditional picks.
Jack was then expected to be the Leafs 3rd goalie or backup at best, then came the Freddy Andersen injury, and Leafs nation was panicking about what they would do in goal.
The panic didn't last as it turned to joy, Jack Campbell was finally emerging and even set a record for most wins to start a season. Jack Campbell ended up taking over the #1 Job for the Leafs letting Freddy Andersen leave as a free agent to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Now this is Jack's first full season as the the #1guy in Toronto and he hasn't disappointed, he's loved by his teammates, and fans who gave him the nickname Soup or Soupy
Jack Campbell is 30 years old and is in the final year of a $1,700,000, salary, and is going to be up for a huge raise. Campbell is a unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. The Leafs are going to have some decisions to make to get some cap space, and if Jack does go to free agency there will be plenty of teams that will be interested in adding some Soup in their net.
