Friedman began by praising the former Flyers captain.
"Everyone is fixated on Claude Giroux," Friedman stated on the latest 32 Thoughts podcast. "He's their captain, a Flyer for a decade, one of the best players in team history, and he still plays hard. In charge of his position."
The insider went on to say the Colorado Avalanche would be ideal for this move, but questioned whether they could make the money work.
"Who doesn't need Claude Giroux in Colorado?" said Friedman. "Can you make the math work? Nearing the deadline. If Claude Giroux wants to chase a Stanley Cup, that's a squad he should join."
Despite the hurdles, Friedman's intuition tells him to go with the Avalanche.
"It's difficult since Colorado doesn't have a money-making player... even if the Flyers keep 50%... I don't see them moving a player to get Giroux's number. First and second, if you need to use a third team, the cost increases."
"This, in my perspective, screams Colorado. I'm not sure it works."
