One of the most anticipated moves this offseason will be Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux. However, other teams are still in the running to acquire the star player before this year's trade deadline.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period the Florida Panthers are vying to be the Flyers' trade partner.
Giroux will play in his 1,000th career game for the Flyers on Thursday against the Nashville Predators, but after that, all bets are off. The Panthers may decide to get him by then. If the Panthers face the Avs in the Stanley Cup final, they wouldn't want Giroux on the opposition squad, according Pagnotta.
The Flyers could move their captain to Florida. Giroux has been linked to the Panthers, with the Flyers scouting Owen Tippett.
Due to injuries to Gabriel Landeskog ($7 million) and Samuel Girard ($5 million), the Avalanche will be active in pursuing Giroux.
This is going to be a wild trade deadline.
