Jesse Puljujarvi's Time in Edmonton Comes to a Shocking End
It's official.
Per Jeff Marek, Jesse Puljujarvi has played his last game for the Edmonton Oilers.
If he isn't traded by then, he will be waived before Wednesday, as Kailer Yamamoto is set to return.
The 2016 4th overall pick has earned himself a pretty negative reputation over the past season, as his offensive numbers have tanked. He is still one of the better defensive forwards in the league, but that's not in any way a fit on an all-offense Oilers team.
It is brutal asset management by the Oilers, who likely could have gotten a third rounder for him six months ago.
There is still obvious upside to Puljujarvi, and if there's a development team with faith they can then him around, he could still be something. Even at 24, it isn't yet time to rule him out as a player.
We will see where he ends up next, but hopefully The Bison King will find new life in a new city.
