John Tavares Gets Sidelined By A Brutal Slapshot and Leaves Game With Injury
In a historical game, where Phil Kessel tied Keith Yandle for the longest iron man streak in NHL history, John Tavares was the main story.
Tavares was struck in the knee by a slapshot by teammate Rasmus Sandin and had to go to the locker room.
Tavares, on his way to the bench, appeared unable to put any weight on his leg.
Tavares has arguably been the Leafs' best player this season, with three goals and four assists for seven points in six games, and he is also a leader in their locker room as their captain.
Update:
Tavares did return to the bench for the third period, but he does not look like he is in peak condition. There could very well be an injury coming.
