John Tortorella Makes a Controversial Comparison Comparing Ivan Provorov to Colin Kapernick
It would probably be better for the Philadelphia Flyers if the Ivan Provorov story were to fizzle out.
Unfortunately, their head coach, John Tortorella, is no stranger to controversy, and instead of trying to change the main story in Philadelphia, he opted to double down in defense of the infamous blueliner.
If you all remember Colin Kapernick, an NFL quarterback who was suspended from his league following his kneeling during the national anthem, it would seem preposterous to compare the two situations.
Kapernick did his act in support of human rights, and as an act of defiance to the troubled culture set in the United States.
Provorov, while he may have been acting true to his religion, only further marginalized a group with his boycotting of the pride jersey.
In the mind of John Tortorella, however? The two stories are closely connected in the mind of the coach.
This story doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.
