Let's cut to the chase.
The Finnish government would not issue Korpisalo a new passport until he has finished his necessary military service, according to Blue Jackets source Aaron Portzline. Given the date, this could have a major impact on Korpisalo's future.
"The law says that every guy must do it,» said Korpisalo as per Portzline. "It's a law. I've been moving it since I was 18 because I never wanted to miss my summer practice time. But now I'm hitting the deadline."
This would put him well into the start of next season's training camps if he began his service at the end of April, when the Blue Jackets' regular season ends. The Finnish netminder admits the future is uncertain.
"I don't know how this is going to go," said Korpisalo.
That's actually crazy. Why can't the NHL exempt him from this? Maybe issue him an American passport or something.
