The Athletic's Katie Strang revealed earlier this month that the team owed the city of Glendale and the state of Arizona up to $1.3 million in back taxes, as well as $900,000 in past due rent to the Gila River Arena. The club had until tomorrow (December 21st, 2021) to pay both invoices, or they will be evicted for the entire month of January.
From Coyotes PR on December 9th, 2021:
«We have already launched an investigation to determine how this could have happened and initial indications are that it appears to be the result of an unfortunate human error. Regardless, we deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused.
"We will make sure that by tomorrow morning, the Arizona Coyotes are current on all of our bills and owe no state or local taxes whatsoever. And we will take immediate steps to ensure that nothing like this can ever possibly happen again.»
