According to reports from Montreal Hockey Now, the NCAA Division I circuit has made rule changes specifically for the upcoming season. Why? Because of the pandemic.
The league will allow players who have already played four seasons to play a fifth.
So Habs prospect Brett Stapley, a 2018 seventh-round pick by the Canadiens, could have decided to return to play with the University of Denver.
However, Marco D'Amico has just learned that he has decided to become an independent player and try his luck in professional hockey.
However, another of the team's 2018 fourth-round prospects, Jack Gorniak, has decided to return with the University of Wisconsin and is therefore back on the Tricolore's roster.
In 37 games last season, Gorniak had 15 points with the Badgers.
