Veteran forward Ryan Getzlaf has admitted it himself: he might be tempted to hit free agency tomorrow and leave the Anaheim Ducks. As first reported by the Cam and Strick podcast, the veteran forward is expected to become an unrestricted free agent for the first time of his career on Wednesday.
And according to insider Pierre LeBrun, four contenders have already enter the chat, looking to sign Getzlaf. It looks like the Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins are interested.
«Potential fits for Ryan Getzlaf if indeed he leaves Anaheim via free agency Edmonton, Montréal, Dallas, Boston. «
Getzlaf is coming off of a contract that carried an $8.25 million AAV, and should expect to earn significantly less this time around.
There is no doubt that the 36-year-old was a premier power forward when he was in his prime, however, he is now coming off of the worst season of his NHL career. He posted just five goals and 12 assists in 48 games.
