The Leafs reportedly shopping forward Pierre Engval to bolster their blue line.
It is no secret that the Maple Leafs have invested heavily in Engval's development. This includes a lot of time on the team's second power play unit despite just having three goals and nine points in 27 games.
With the injury bug hitting the Maple Leafs, it looks they may have turned their focus to deploying some forward depth to patch a hole on their blueline.
Engval is a huge guy, yet he doesn't play rough. His ability to play through the middle and on either wing will pique curiosity, as will his famous spin-o-rama wrist shot. This season, Engval makes $1.25 million. Restrictive free agent next summer.
Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens, and Detroit Red Wings are a few to monitor. Toronto is interested in all four teams' expiring contracts.
