Kyle Dubas, the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, held a media availability over the weekend, and it was clear that he is sticking to his guns. The Leafs aren't expected to trade any of their core players this summer, and they're only looking to add some secondary talent to their mix.
Dubas goes on to say that he believes in the team and that they can finally break through next season. The team will be without Zach Hyman and possibly Nick Foligno, so there will be holes to fill. With only one goaltender under contract and a need for another depth defenseman, Dubas and his team have a lot of work ahead of them this offseason.
Some Leafs fans are surprised the team isn't blowing it up, while others are aware that the core with John Tavares has only been together for three seasons, and given how he was knocked out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they want another chance with the current group.
The Maple Leafs will feature many of the same players next season as they attempt to win their first playoff series in nearly two decades. Kyle Dubas is one person who believes they can.
