Yesterday, the Montreal Canadiens reached an agreement with forward Mike Hoffman on the first day of the free agent market. The contract is for three years with an average annual salary of $4.5 million.
Now 31 years old, the winger scored 17 goals for a total of 36 points in 52 games played last season with the St. Louis Blues. In four playoff games, he scored once. Hoffman is the NHL's 5th leading scorer on the PP since 2015-2016.
In his career with the Ottawa Senators, Florida Panthers and Blues, he has 395 points, including 189 goals in 545 games. He is a born goal scorer who will undoubtedly replace forward Tomas Tatar.
We must also mention that Bergevin was very aggressive last season to acquire Hoffman.
Certainly a very good signing!
