The Edmonton Oilers' goaltender situation hasn't been great this season. Of course, fans and commentators alike have criticized GM Ken Holland for not doing more to bolster the position, instead opting to extend 39-year-old Mike Smith's contract for two more years.

Edmonton has used streaky backup Mikko Koskinen and inexperienced Stuart Skinner in the crease this season. Expect Koskinen to thrive with increased workload.

Earlier today, he reacted angrily to a reporter from Edmonton who questioned about weariness. See the exchange for yourself:

«Are you ready and able to play three out of four games down the stretch and through the playoffs?»

«Yeah, yeah.»

«If you play a lot of games, you get tired. Is that anything people are reading into that isn't true? Or must it be proven?»

Koskinen: «I suppose you guys made that up really quickly. And I won't buy it. I'll do my part and take it day by day. «I'm not worried.»

Koskinen can be confident after back-to-back victories over the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Koskinen provides his squad a chance to win, according to interim head coach Jay Woodcroft.

«I've seen goalies that give their team a chance to win,» said Woodcroft, who isn't afraid to ride him hard down the stretch. «He's been great for us lately, and we'll need him to keep it up.»
