Carey Price opened up to Arpon Basu of The Athletic and his comments have been widely circulated in the media since. If we, as fans, are emotional about the Habs goalie's condition, imagine his fellow fans.
But even though the rivalry between Toronto and Montreal is immense, the players are not insensitive to each other's problems, far from it. For Mitch Marner, it is the hockey world in general that suffers from the loss of Carey.
These are simple words, but so powerful at the same time. Like it or not, any team on the NHL would have paid the price when Marc Bergevin signed Price to an eight-year, $10.5 million a year contract.
Not only is Carey one of the best goaltenders of his generation, he is a gentleman who is appreciated by everyone, even his biggest rivals. Now we just have to hope that he gets healthy enough to live his life as a father.
