According to what David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports, the Montreal Canadiens and defenseman Alexander Romanov have not even begun negotiations, for a possible contract.
Romanov will become a restricted free agent in July.
Teams have until July 11 to make a qualifying offer to their unrestricted free agents, so it's likely to be settled after the draft.
In 79 games last season, the Russian had 13 points, including three goals.
