Last spring, Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki made a request of his head coach, Martin St-Louis, and it was granted.
According to what Arpon Basu and Marc-Antoine Godin of The Athletic report, Suzuki wanted to practice at the Bell Centre on game days and here's his reason:
"I like the idea of being here in the morning, it pushes the other team back a little bit and it gives us a chance to be on our own ice. It's definitely not the same building as Brossard, so just being in this environment in the morning is important to us." - Nick Suzuki
But that's not all, here are Basu and Godin's explanations:
"Suzuki and the others thought it was important to adjust more to the lighting, the vagaries of the band - especially in the corner where the Zamboni comes out - and the equipment that's available to them."
It makes perfect sense! Add to that the transportation from the South Shore to downtown, it didn't make sense to keep practices in Brossard on game days.
