Carey Price gave a powerful testimony in an article by Arpon Basu that was published this morning. Without filter and without embarrassment, the famous number 31 of the Canadiens revealed his problem that required the help of the player assistance program in 2021, namely alcoholism.

Following the morning practice, Habs captain Nick Suzuki was asked about Carey's courageous statements. Suzuki said that the team was not aware of all the details when Price left the team for the assistance program.

« In light of The Athletic's article where Carey Price spoke openly about battling alcoholism, captain Nick Suzuki was asked about it this morning and said Price didn't go into detail when he spoke to the team before entering the player assistance program last year." - reported by Priyanta Emrith

Basically, they only got more information about their teammate's health later.

« He came and talked with the team, but didn't go into detail, but later we found out why and we wanted to be there to support him as much as possible..." - Nick Suzuki, reported by Priyanta Emrith

Obviously, the Canadiens' star goalie was probably hiding his demons well thanks to his calm and reassuring temperament. He did a tremendous amount of work to hide his alcoholism from his family and team.

Fortunately, he decided at some point that he had had enough and needed to get help. Hopefully, his courageous testimony can inspire others with similar struggles, so that they may have the strength to seek help to get through it as well.
