Pittsburgh Penguin Expected to be Suspended After a Nasty Illegal Hit
Sometimes even the tamest players get into a difficult situation. Jeff Carter, of the Pittsburgh Penguins, is one of the oldest players in the league. At 38, his big-hitting days are mostly gone, as he's been adapted to a more complementary role.
This doesn't stop him from throwing some absolute bombs, but usually he stays on the side of legal. With this hit on Cale Makar, however, it looks like Carter is in for a few games off.
As you can see, there is a distinct motion towards Makar's head, and there is seemingly no effort to try and slow down. With the NHL cracking down on head-shots, could Carter be used as an example?
He'll be lucky to get off with a fine, as this could get him as many as five games in the press box.
We will update when DoPS rules.
