Bettman is expected to sign a five-year contract extension, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, which will keep him in charge of the league far into his third decade as commissioner.
From Friedman's most recent 32 Thoughts column for Sportsnet:
At the Board of Governors, Commissioner Gary Bettman happily told everyone, "I plan on being here for a long time.» Sounds like a five-year agreement is being formalized, but if there are any curveballs involved with that I'm not aware of them.
- Elliotte Friedman
Well Well Well. I guess we will have to endure this man for another half a decade.
