Before ending up with the Wild, Ryan Suter was one of the main faces of the Nashville Predators. His one-time linemate was none other than Shea Weber, now captain of the Montreal Canadiens.
Suter is a true stud on the ice, playing big minutes every game for Minnesota. He finished first in ice time on the ice on a few occasions during his career. Suter, 36, can still offer valuable services to an NHL team, he still has a lot of gas in the tank. He is very reliable in his zone and brings his share of offense.
It would be very surprising if Marc Bergevin let Ben Chiarot go in the expansion draft, so adding Suter would make the CH defense even more formidable. Suter could also be a great mentor for young Alexander Romanov.
The American defenseman is coming off a tougher season offensively with 19 points in 56 games. However, considering the rise of the defensive relief on the Wild, this could have a direct link to the veteran's slump. He was clearly no longer in the organization's plans, as Bill Guerin seems to be pushing for youth in his lineup.
