James Neal, a veteran Blues forward, was placed on waivers on Sunday, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. This practically makes Neal available to any NHL team, and given his expertise and low salary, I believe there is a high possibility he will be moved.
Although he tried to get a new contract throughout the winter, Neal was initially unsuccessful. This led to him accepting a professional tryout offer from the St. Louis Blues, which paid off handsomely for the 34-year-old Whitby, Ontario native. Neal not only signed with the Blues after that tryout, but he also scored a hat trick in the preseason to become the team's leading scorer.
Since then, Neal has only played in 17 games for the Blues, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points. Neal has been responsible so far this season, yet he has no penalty minutes and a minus minus rating of -1.
