According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Face-off, Tkachuk had the Hurricanes on his list of teams he would be open to sign an 8-year contract.
Unfortunately, Tkachuk long term contract wasn't cheap and the Canes weren't able to give up their stars for Matthew Tkachuk.
Sources say one of the teams that was in deepest in trade talks on Matthew Tkachuk (and also on his short list) over last few days: #Canes.
Believe #stlblues were also in deep as well, but you can understand with another 100-point player in the mix, why Cats had the upper hand.
