The New York Rangers announced the signing of goaltender Igor Shesterkin on Monday. The deal is a four-season deal worth a total of $22.66 million, or $5.65 million per year.
The 25-year-old Shesterkin posted a 16-14-3 record last season in 35 games. He also had a 2.62 goals-against-average and a .916 save percentage.
The fourth-round pick (118th overall) in 2014 from the Rangers, was in his first full season as a first baseman.
In fact, Shesterkin's contract is the largest contract awarded to a goalie as a second career contract as reported by Frank Seravalli.
