The Columbus Blue Jackets are in a dramatic situation right now. This team is literally down on its luck, as everything is going wrong in Ohio. The season has clearly not started well and injuries are piling up at a frightening rate.
Already, the defense is without their number one defenseman for the season in Zach Werenski, the Jackets have also lost the services of promising defensemen Adam Boqvist, Jake Bean and Nick Blankenburg.
While Boqvist's absence has already been announced to be long term, we have just learned that Bean's absence will be just as long with a four to six month absence.
As if that wasn't enough, Columbus has lost the services of Patrik Laine for 13 of the first 21 games, in addition to veteran Jakub Voracek, who has been out since early November with a concussion. The new diagnosis still does not give a timetable for his return.
The Blue Jackets have a high draft pick, and their pool of young prospects is already very promising. Imagine if they end up getting Connor Bedard as well!
