The Detroit Red Wings have announced a major injury to one of their top players, as Tyler Bertuzzi will miss six weeks of play after undergoing surgery on his hand.
The injury is the result of a shot to the hand from teammate Ben Chiarot during the December 1 game against the Buffalo Sabres.
This absence could have a significant impact on the Red Wings, who currently sit fourth in the Atlantic Division, just ahead of the Florida Panthers. They currently hold the final wild card playoff spot.
