A few days ago, 36-year-old veteran Ryan Getzlaf played his last game in front of his Anaheim Ducks fans.

According to an information reported by the site DanslesCoulisses.com, the Montreal Canadiens, more specifically Marc Bergevin, would have tried to acquire Getzlaf on two occasions.

In fact, last season, at the trade deadline, the former Habs GM got his hands on a lot of experience, including forward Eric Staal.

However, Bergevin would have tried to get his hands on a much more important element, namely Ryan Getzlaf. The main interested party would have refused the transaction, specifying that he wanted to stay in the same division as the Ducks.

A few months later, Marc Bergevin would have tried his luck again when the player with 1019 points in 1157 games became a free agent. However, he would have again refused the offer without hesitating as his agent Gerry Johansson indicates.

«Yeah, I talked to Marc. You know, Vegas, a number of teams actually, Dallas, they respectfully checked on him, would Ryan come here, what he thinks, that sort of thing. It was close, but not close enough to make an offer. It wasn't close enough for that to happen. »
