With the departure of Mikko Koskinen to Switzerland, Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland has learned that goalie Mike Smith could spend the entire next season on the long-term injury list.
This would leave the Oilers without a single NHL-caliber goalie. Clearly, young Stuart Skinner is not ready for the NHL on a full-time basis, so GM Holland will have to acquire a goalie on the free agent market or via a trade.
Many experts are sending Jack Campbell, the current Toronto Maple Leafs goalie, to Edmonton.
Others believe that Ville Husso, who spent last season in St. Louis, could become the starting goalie for this offensively talented team.
This is obviously going to be an issue to follow this summer.
