According to information from freelance journalist and producer of the Puck And Roll podcast, Patrick Lortie, the Canadiens has been in talks with the Rangers for a few weeks now.
The vice-president of hockey operations, Jeff Gorton, as well as the Canadiens co-director of recruiting, Nick Bobrov, are both very familiar with young defenceman Nils Lundkvist, but also forward Vitaly Kravstov.
The two would therefore be in a possible transaction between Montreal and New York.
I can confirm via an #NHL executive that the #GoHabsGo have been talking with the #Rangers for weeks now. Word is the #Habs are interested in Nils Lundkvist and would like to acquire Vitaly Kravstov as well. Not sure how they can pull off this kind of deal, but let's keep an eye out."
A first-round pick, 28th overall for the Rangers in 2018, Lundkvist had 15 points, including three goals in 34 AHL games, last season, plus four points in 25 games, with the Rangers.
Kravtsov signed a one-season contract with the Rangers this summer. In 19 games in the KHL last season, the ninth overall pick in 2018 scored 13 points.
