It has been a terrible start to the season for the Vancouver Canucks.

Originally destined for the fringe of the playoffs, they are currently near the bottom of the league. A big factor of this has been players not playing to the best of their ability, such as JT Miller and Elias Pettersson.

Another factor is that it appears head coach Bruce Boudreau no longer fits with the team.

While he was the spark plug that brought the Canucks out of their slump last year, the spark appears to be gone.

Elliotte Friedman suggested on 32 thoughts that a Bruce Boudreau firing is where things are headed.

He then brought up Rick Tocchet as a possible replacement coach.

Tocchet would make a lot of sense, as he has close ties with hockey operations director Jim Rutherford. They won two straight Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins together in 2016 and 2017, thus making Tocchet a logical move forward.

While Boudreau may not be performing as well as last year, he will always be a fan favourite, and it will be bittersweet to see him gone.
