The Toronto Maple Leafs are very close to the salary cap and the team's general manager, Kyle Dubas, made a big move on Monday.
Swedish defenseman Timothy Liljegren agreed to terms on a two-season contract that will pay him $1.4 million per year.
Drafted 17th overall in 2017, the 23-year-old defenseman had 23 points in 61 games in his first real NHL season. He has 74 games in the Bettman circuit.
