Mathias Brunet, a journalist at La Presse, made an interesting suggestion in his most recent column. If the Habs get the first overall pick in the 2022 draft, could they trade him?
Brunet proposes to Kent Hughes to trade the first overall pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for the number 6 and number 12 picks.
What do you think of the idea? Here's what it could have looked like in previous drafts:
2021
Owen Power (1) vs Simon Edvinsson (6) + Cole Sillinger (12)
2020
Alexis Lafrenière (1) vs Jamie Drysdale (6) + Anton Lundell (12)
2019
Jack Hughes (1) vs Moritz Seider (6) + Matthew Boldy (12)
2018
Rasmus Dahlin (1) vs Filip Zadina (6) + Noah Dobson (12)
2017
Nico Hischier (1) vs Cody Glass (6) + Martin Necas (12)
2016
Auston Matthews (1) vs Matthew Tkachuk (6) + Michael McLeod (12)
Given that Shane Wright is not a generational player like McDavid or Matthews, would you make the trade?
