The Montreal Canadiens skipped on Shane Wright for the 1st overall during the 2022 NHL Draft.
That really didn't sit well with the top prospect. Once the Krakens picked him 4th overall the young stud walked up the staged and gave the Canadiens table the death stare.
Today, Wayne decided to call Shane:

The Great One has been in contact with Shane Wright since the draft to make sure he's still in the right mindset after dropping out of the top 3. Gretzky specifically requested to get Wright's number on draft night so he could give him some words of encouragement 👏
Gretzky went undrafted into the NHL, as he started his career in the WHA until they merged with the NHL in 1979.
