Kevin Fiala, 25, has compiled a spectacular 33 goals and 52 assists for a total of 85 points in 82 games this season, good for 23rd in the NHL.
The Athletic's Michael Russo did the analysis and concluded that the Wild will most likely use last summer's trade of forward Sam Reinhart to the Florida Panthers for a first round pick in 2022 and young goaltender Devon Levi to determine the price of Fiala.
This means that Reinhart, who was in the same situation as Fiala is now and was coming off a 40 point season in 54 games (a ratio of about 60 points in 82 games), will have cost a late 1st round pick and a B prospect.
So realistically, Fiala will cost more by virtue of his one point per game record.
Based on this premise, and playing the speculation game:
2022 1st round pick (Calgary) + 2022 2nd round pick (Edmonton) + a type B prospect (like Nick Robertson or Matthias Norlinder)
Fiala would then have to be agreed upon on the terms of a new contract, and he will surely demand at least $7 million per year on a long-term contract.
