In recent days there has been a major controversy brewing involving the Canadian Women's Soccer team that could lead the team to lose not one but multiple gold medals.

The Canadian Women's Soccer team brought pride to Canada three years ago when they won the Olympic Gold Medal game. During their run at the top of the soccer world, the whole country united together to celebrate. However, new information has come to light that has tarnished that legacy.

This week begins the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Just one day into the games a major controversy sparked after Canada's Women's Soccer Team was caught filming the training session of another team.

The incident came as a shock to everyone involved and led to the removal of head coach Bev Priestman from the coaching staff for the Olympics and replaced by Andy Spence.

The Canadian Olympic Committee has removed CWNT head coach, Bev Priestman from the Canadian Olympic Team.

Assistant coach Andy Spence will lead the CWNT for the remainder of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Since the incident from this Olympics became public further research confirmed that the same tactics were used by the Canadian team during the games that took place in 2021 as well. Now reports have confirmed an investigation has been launched.

Now the International Olympic Committe will begin an investigation into these allegations. Further reports reveal that the team has been filming other programs training sessions for several years which could ruin some of the best seasons in the history of the program.

Canada's men's and women's soccer teams have relied on drones and spying for years, sources say

Coaching staff and contractors working with Canada's men's and women's national soccer teams have been engaged for years in efforts to film the closed-door training sessions of their opponents, including during the women's gold-medal winning Olympic tournament in 2021, sources told TSN.

Currently, there is an investigation that is underway by the International Olympic Committee. If any filming is confirmed to have taken place during the previous Olympics then Canada could potentially be stripped of their Gold Medal from those games.

As of now, the situation is still developing but once there is more information on the ultimate fate of Canadian Soccer we will pass it along to you.
