Jaromir Jagr suffers injury potentially ending his professional hockey career
Today reports have come out confirming that hockey legend Jaromir Jagr has suffered a significant injury in potentially his final NHL season.
Jaromir Jagr is known for being likely the oldest player playing in a professional league this season. The Pittsburgh Penguins Hall of Famer has played for Kladno the team he owns in the Czech Extraliga since retiring from the NHL.
Today it has been revealed that Jaromir Jagr has suffered a Torn Hamstring that will keep him sidelined for a significant amount of time.
I have something to tell you. I know you're asking why I'm not playing in any pre-season games. Unfortunately, I was injured. I know that you supported me a lot and because of you I will not give up and I am training anyway. Back as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.
Jaromir Jagr says the injury happened while training after not heeding the warnings of physiotherapist Pavel Kolář.
When I talked to the physiotherapist Pavel Kolář about the fact that I would like to properly train, he warned me not to do anything that my body is not used to.
Of course, I didn't listen to him... I went for a run. Not the sprints I used to do uphill, but normally straight. But I put weights on my ankles and tore my hamstring.
That was about five days ago. Pavel said it would be three to six weeks. We'll see how it heals.
According to Jaromir Jagr himself he should be back within six weeks. However, at the age of 52 the healing process is much more unpredictable for Jaromir Jagr than it has ever been. Regardless Jaromir Jagr is committed to working hard and trying to return as soon as possible.
The worst part is that I'm mad at myself. I was preparing, I dropped a lot (of weight) and felt pretty good on the ice. Now it has stopped again, so I'll have to start from the beginning.
But I'm not one to screw it up when I've put so much into it. The very next day I went to do things that didn't hurt. However, skating is very important and I won't be on the ice for three to six weeks. Maybe it won't be that long, we'll see. When I walk, it doesn't hurt.
Hopefully, Jaromir Jagr makes a full recovery and can return to the ice and finish off his hockey career at full health. With Kladno's season beginning soon it will be interesting to see how quickly Jaromir Jagr can get back as he is hoping to play almost every game he can this season.
