The criminal past of the man responsible for the deaths of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau was publicly revealed on social media.

Sean Higgins, the drunk driver who attempted a dangerous maneuver on the road after taking "five or six beers" and ended up hitting Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, who were cycling, is currently being held by the police.

With two counts of first-degree vehicular homicide, he could end up spending up to 40 years in jail and paying a $400k fine if the judge hands out the maximum sentence.

A video of Higgins during court leaked online, in which we can see his controversial reaction upon learning that he'd be held in a cell for the long weekend:

It turns out that it wasn't his first rodeo in court.

In a new report, we learned that Higgins was arrested for driving under the influence back in 2005.

According to court records, Higgins was charged in North Carolina, but the case fell through as the police officer who made the arrest didn't show up to court.

If the officer had shown up that day, Higgins could've faced consequences for his actions, and there's a chance he wouldn't have taken his car on Thursday night after a few beers.

This whole tragedy could've easily been avoided, but Higgins made the decision to drink and drive, and will now likely get a lot of time to think about the dangers of driving under the influence.
