One question always grabs attention; «Who's the most overrated player in the league?" This year, it's no different. 'Other' took the lead with 26.73% of the vote, with at least 25+ players snagging a single vote.
Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks snagged second place at 12.87%, followed by Darnell Nurse from the Edmonton Oilers at 7.92%. Then came Matthew Tkachuk from the Florida Panthers and Jason Robertson from the Dallas Stars, tied at 6.93% each.
Zegras makes sense because other than his occasional Michigans, he hasn't lived up to the hype around him. Nurse isn't a $9.3 million defenseman no matter what his contract says.
Tkachuk and Robertson being so high on the list might raise some eyebrows. Sure, they're not hitting the same highs as last season, but they're still putting up solid numbers. Tkachuk started slow with 5 goals and 22 points in his first 32 matches but is on a ten-game heater and has 19 points during this run. In the last 17 games, he has 11 goals and 29 points, renouncing that early slump to the hockey world. As for Robertson, he has 17 goals and 50 points in 49 games. Last year, he had 109, and this season, he's on pace for 83, so there's a case to be made for him.
It's interesting to see what players around the league think, right?
