Chicago Blackhawks and New York Islanders complete huge trade
New York Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello and Chicago Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson have agreed upon a trade involving multiple first-round picks.
It was just announced that the New York Islanders and the Chicago Blackhawks have made a trade.
TRADE ALERT: #Isles acquire picks #20, #54, and #61 in this year's draft from the #Blackhawks for Picks #18 and #50.
TRADE
To Chicago #Blackhawks
2024 1st RD pick (#18 - NYI)
2024 2nd RD pick (#50 - NYI)
To New York #Isles
2024 1st RD pick (#20 - TBL)
2024 2nd RD pick (#54 - LAK)
2024 2nd RD pick (#61 - VAN)
The Blackhawks will be moving up two slots in the first round and four slots in the second round and will be giving up an additional late second-round pick to do so.
It is not ordinary for teams to trade picks well ahead of the draft but the Blackhawks are likely eyeing moving up again in the 2024 draft. The Islanders will be getting more draft capital and will be able to utilize their late second on some top-end talent to bolster their depleted prospect pool.
More details to come.
