Maple Leafs complete trade with Coyotes
The Arizona Coyotes are spoiled with draft picks. The Toronto Maple Leafs aren't. The former just made the Leafs situation much worse.
Coyotes Take Draft Pick From Maple Leafs
In the Nick Ritchie trade, the Arizona Coyotes were given the option of taking a 3rd round pick in 2023, or a 2nd round pick in 2025.
It would thus be logical to take the higher pick, especially considering the Coyotes are still in the very early stages of their rebuild.
Instead, they are taking away a draft pick from the Leafs in a year where they're already low on picks. They only have a fifth and a sixth round pick in this years draft now.
Hopefully the Leafs can find some gems in the late rounds!
