NHL reveals plan for the Coyotes to relocate next season
The NHL has just revealed a major update on its plans to potentially move the Arizona Coyotes to a new city as early as next season.
In breaking news today, the NHL has just taken further action in the plan to move the Arizona Coyotes franchise out of the state as early as next season. Frank Seravalli has just revealed that the league is drafting 2 schedules, one that would have the team playing in Arizona and one that would have them playing in Salt Lake City.
Sources: #NHL is drafting two schedule versions for next season - one with #Yotes in Arizona, another with the relocated franchise playing in Salt Lake City.
Fluid situation. Lots of moving parts. Details on dual paths and a potential transaction.
This is massive news but expected. The NHL has been on the Coyotes to get them to build a new arena for their team for some time now, and this is the next step to furthering that threat. The Coyotes recently announced that they would be building a new arena in Phoenix, however, they have had plans fail in the past.
What is interesting is that this would indicate that Salt Lake City is the next City up when it comes to a potential franchise expansion in the NHL.
Stay tuned for further details.
