Brad Marchand Believes the NHL Should Make a Major Change
Brad Marchand, an NHL veteran, has never been afraid to express his opinions on different controversies in the NHL. On Thursday, he expressed his opinion on a debated NHL topic.
Marchand wants to go back to the good old days
One of the most common NHL arguments is that the league should return to the old playoff format.
The debate regarding the playoff format is that the league should return to the old Conference-style seeding, otherwise known as the 1v8 format. Marchand weighed in with his opinion:
''You have the top-3 teams in one division. You have three teams that should be going deep, [two] are playing against each other in the first round. ... So I think we should go back to the one versus eight.''
Marchand is one of many players who believe the current playoff format should be changed, Sidney Crosby also believe in reverting to the old format.
The previous playoff format was used for 20 years, from 1993, before changing to the current format in 2013.
