It's no secret that Patrice Bergeron's career is nearing an end and with that it means he won't get many chances to play in front of family much longer.

Bergeron Wanted to Play in Front of His Father

However, it has been revealed that Bergeron's father has cancer and he wanted to play the final game of the regular season in Montreal in front of his ailing father one last time.

The 37-year old forward grew up in the province of Quebec as a Nordiques fan until the team relocated to Colorado in 1995. He and his father than switched over to Canadiens fans like many in the province.

Playing in front of his dad this one last time meant so much to Bergeron who has since missed the first 2 games of the Bruins series against the Panthers due to injury and illness.

The story regarding Bergeron's reasoning for playing the game in Montreal was broken on Thursday night by Bruins insider Dominic Tiano who said that Bergeron wouldn't take no for an answer and that he was going to play for his father.

Given the heart the forward has it's no surprise that he risked injury in a meaningless game against his home province team. As a result, he ended up with a minor injury thathas kept him out of the lineup since.

While, many Bruins fans may be disappointed he definitely made the right choice in his heart knowing his dad saw him play one last game live.
