The Carolina Hurricanes and New York Islanders played their first game against each other in the first round of this season's playoffs, but not without pulling a stunt that left New York goaltender Ilya Sorokin without a chair for the entire game.

With playoffs underway, every team is bound to be looking for any possible path to victory, even if that means cheap stunts to gain advantages over their opponents. It appears that the New York Islanders were on the losing end of this one, as their goaltender Ilya Samsonov was left without a chair and forced to stand for the duration of the game.

"Nobody gave Islanders backup goalie Ilya Sorokin a chair to sit on 😭"

Without a chance to properly rest when off the ice, Sorokin was set for early fatigue and could therefore be less prepared to block incoming shots on goal. Though it is unknown whether the lack of sitting space was intentional, fans are upset on more than just the player's behalf, extending their concerns for the league at large.

"How is it acceptable that hockey barns are being built without enough room on the bench for a team? Bush-League-Bettman-Approved
🙄
Must be the new standard. The Yotes were playing in a college rink. Unreal."

Whether or not the Hurricanes had anything to do with Sorokin's standing, they came out on top against the New York Islanders 3-1. They now lead in the series 1-0 with their second match on Monday.

"THE CANES TAKE THE ISLANDERS BY STORM FOR A 1-0 SERIES LEAD‼️🌪️"
