The most notable event last night was a scrum that ensued following a jab that Alex Killorn took at Igor Shesterkin after he had covered the puck. The Rangers didn't take kindly to the incident, and mayhem followed.
The Department of Player Safety announced today that Killorn had been fined $5,000 for his slash against Shesterkin.
To balance out the hatred towards the NHL's most controversial department, the DoPS announced that Rangers defenseman Adam Fox would also be receiving a $5,000 fine for slashing (spearing) Lighting forward Corey Perry on a separate incident.
Perry has a well earned reputation around the league, so it's no surprise that he was caught right in the middle of all this action.
The hatred between these two teams seems to be ever present, and it would be great for the league if these two clubs met in the playoffs. Unfortunately for fans, that won't be in the first round, as Tampa Bay's first round match-up has already been confirmed to be against Toronto.
Hopefully we can see a seven-game series between these two teams at some point in the near future!
