For the second time in two years, we'll have a great matchup. But that means an important Cup contender will be eliminated in the first round. Who will it be?
Yesterday, during a game between Tampa Bay and the New York Rangers, something came up that could tip the scales in the Leafs' favor when the playoffs start.
The Rangers scored three goals in the first period last night.
All three goals were scored on the blocker side.
There's more. In the 6-3 win, the last two Rangers goals were also scored on the blocker side.
This could be a coincidence, but when you're looking for flaws in the best goalie in the world, every detail counts.
If this is true, the Leafs will obviously try to take advantage of it. With all the snipers on the team, a well-placed shot at the blocker would be a great strategy to beat Tampa.
They will still have to get past the defensemen before attacking the blocker, but with all the depth in the Leafs' lineup, it wouldn't be surprising to see a couple of goals scored that way.
As reported on Maple Leafs Daily -
The Leafs may have just gained an edge on the Lightning in Round 1, thanks to the Rangers
