Russian NHL Prospect Screws Over The Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers have shown a tendency to take swings on Russian prospects but one may be biting them in the rear right now.
Philly's Russian Prospects
Since the 2015 draft, the Philadelphia Flyers have selected 7 total Russians. While everybody is focused on Matvei Michkov who went 7th overall, there is a lot more noise coming from one of the 4 Russian goalies selected in that time frame.
Ivan Fedotov has been a hot storyline over the past year with a "will he/won't he" with the NHL and the KHL. Many thought he would be coming over next season to help the Flyers out but that notion appears to have been false.
Fedotov Screws The Flyers
Yesterday, it was announced that Fedotov will be staying in Russia next year effectively screwing over Danny Briere and the Flyers.
This two year contract comes and violates the contract Fedotov is currently under with the Flyers. This almost guarantees that this bridge is burned between the two parties.
However, if Fedotov decides to come to the NHL after this KHL contract finishes up, he may still have a place in Philly given how Russian rights don't expire in the NHL due to there being no transfer agreement.
