BREAKING: Penguins Clean House in Front Office
After one of the worst seasons the franchise could have possibly expected, the Pittsburgh Penguins have cleaned house.
Hextall, Burke, Pryor Fired
After missing the playoffs for the first time in sixteen years, the Penguins were bound to make some moves.
Just 13 hours after losing their 82nd and final game of the season to the 30th place Columbus Blue Jackets those moves have been made.
The Penguins have relieved President of Hockey Operations Brian Burke, General Manager Ron Hextall, and Assistant General Manager, Chris Pryor of their duties, it was announced today by Fenway Sports Group.
The Penguins released this statement:
John Henry and Tom Werner issued the following statement: "We are grateful to Brian, Ron, and Chris for their contributions to the organization over the past two seasons, but we feel that the team will benefit from new hockey operations leadership.
While this season has been disappointing, we believe in our core group of players and the goal of contending for the Stanley Cup has not changed."
They equally announced that the search for new members of the hockey ops team will begin immediately.
This will be a time of rapid change in Pittsburgh, but these firings are fully deserved.
